This picturesque hike is a hidden gem of wilderness in the heart of the suburbs. Highlights include tranquil lake views, cascading waterfalls along Hunts Creek, and the wildlife-rich bushland of Bidjigal Reserve—home to wallabies, echidnas, powerful owls, and Aboriginal rock shelters. The trail offers a mix of peaceful forest paths, sandstone outcrops, and opportunities for birdwatching, making it a rewarding full-day hike.

Meeting Location: Lake Parramatta Car Park/Cafe- end of Illawong Drive, North Parramatta
Maximum number: 15
Difficulty: Moderate/Challenging – the track is a mix of bush trail hiking, some creek crossings and road walking included. You need good balance and to be comfortable on uneven terrain
Fitness Requirements: Good level of fitness, good general health.

WHAT TO BRING
Bring in a small backpack (please allow space for a 20cm x 15cm lunch box provided):
2-3 litres of drinking water (including electrolytes)
Thermos of hot water (for your tea/coffee), or ready-made and a mug
Rain Jacket and warm layers
Cap/Hat
Headtorch - fully charged (mandatory)
Sunscreen
Personal Medications
Tissues, wet wipes, and clip-lock bags (for toileting). Our leave no trace policy requires you take out all waste such as toilet paper and wet wipes. Coaches will carry a shovel and spare toilet paper.
Poles (optional, but recommended)
Boots highly recommended
