A toast to adventure

Some recipes are designed to fuel an adventure. Others are perfect for the well deserved celebration!

After a challenging day on the trails, or at completion of a special multi-day adventure, there is something satisfying about taking a moment to reflect on what you've achieved. The kilometres completed, the hills climbed, the friendships strengthened, and all the laughs along the way deserve to be remembered.

This month, Diamond Legend Sue shares two of her favourite cocktail recipes. With more than 360 training sessions under her belt and countless hiking adventures, memorable moments and stories accumulated along the way, Sue knows a thing or two about celebrating a job well done. Whether you prefer a classic Espresso Martini, a refreshing Gin Sour, or you want to use the recipes as inspiration for a mocktail version, these drinks are best enjoyed alongside some sparkling Diamond company. 😉

Espresso Martini

Rich, velvety and packed with coffee flavour, the Espresso Martini has become a modern classic.

Ingredients

  • 45mL vodka

  • 30mL fresh espresso

  • 22.5mL Kahlua coffee liqueur

  • 1 barspoon simple syrup

  • 2 drops 20% saline solution

  • 3 coffee beans, to garnish

Method Brew the espresso and allow it to cool slightly. Add all ingredients to a shaker and briefly froth using a milk frother if desired. Add ice and shake vigorously until well chilled. Double strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with three coffee beans for health, wealth and happiness.

Gin Sour

Bright, citrusy and beautifully balanced, the Gin Sour is a timeless favourite.

Ingredients

  • 60mL gin

  • 30mL fresh lemon juice

  • 15-20mL simple syrup

  • 15mL egg white (optional)

  • Lemon peel and Angostura bitters, to garnish

Method Combine all ingredients in a shaker without ice and shake vigorously for 15 seconds. Add ice and shake again until thoroughly chilled. Strain into a chilled coupe glass or over fresh ice. Garnish with lemon peel and a few drops of bitters.

Here's to adventure, friendship and making memories worth raising a glass to.

🥂 Cheers Diamonds!
