Overnight Oats in a Jar!

The Ultimate Grab ’n’ Go Brekkie

What could be easier than Overnight Oats in a Jar when you have an early start on the trail but want to have a healthy breakfast that will keep you fuelled for a few hours?

Just grab a glass jar (approx 500 ml capacity, with lid) combine the ingredients, leave overnight…and hey presto…in the morning you have the ultimate grab ’n’ go breakfast!!

This way you can just use Maccas for their conveniently located toilets instead 😉.

The Base

1/2 cups rolled oats (gluten-free if needed)

1 tblsp chia seeds

¼ cup yoghurt (your choice)

½ cup milk (your choice)

1 tblsp sweetener (honey, maple or agave syrup)

Get an optional protein boost by adding 2 tblsp of protein powder.

Go Crazy…with the different additions- including any fresh, dried or frozen fruit, nuts and seeds, nut butters, even jams.

Or try these….

Apple Pie- add 2 tblsp dried apple, 2 tblsp chopped pecans or walnuts, pinch of cinnamon

Pina Colada- add 2 tblsp dried pineapple and 2 tblsp shredded coconut (use coconut milk in base recipe)

Carrot Cake- ¼ cup shredded carrot, 1 tblsp shredded coconut, 1 tblsp raisins, pinch of cinnamon

Cranberry Almond- 2 tblsp dried cranberries and 2 tsp sliced almonds

Banana Bread – ½ mashed banana, 2 tblsp chopped walnuts, pinch of cinnamon
